So, here comes the question, why and who hires a representative or agent ?

To begin with let’s make it clear that You don’t require an agent to present your application, you yourself are eligible to apply for PR or students visa or work visa or temporary visit without an agent. However, if you are applying it yourself that means you have to do a thorough research and you have to be knowledgeable of the complex procedure of programs, application forms, eligibility criteria, and deadlines and other things.

So why to hire or who hires an agent ?

There are some common situations when people go to an agent like those who aren’t much into going to giving it their time as they have different things to do like studies, job or family in addition to applying for PR. Some of them don’t want all that inconvenience of applying and waiting for response or  going through all the research before applying. These are quite a few reasons for people to go to an agent. As the agent has prior experience, that’s more convenient.

While applying you are supposed to fill many forms for immigration for the immigration program you are eligible, for the first time. There you may need the experience of an agent or consultant or lawyer though you personally need to go through the form but the agent may help you understand the norms and help you fill it with proper guidance. You’ll likely be filling out the many immigration forms for your immigration program for the first time. You might need guidance with what documents you require while applying and how to get those documents if you don’t have them in your hand how to make those documents, to put it simply, the agent or consultant or representative can give you the right direction to walk on. You won’t have to struggle the do everything yourself, the experience can help you and make everything more convenient for you.

Its not just about the forms and documents, moreover they knowledge and experience is just a inch away when you hire a consultant they prevent you from making mistakes that may cause your application to be rejected or re-do anything. It may make your way to move to Canada more smoothly.                              

If you have any criminal charges or prior records 

If you have any minor criminal charges, haven’t been proved guilty of any kind of illegal activity, you need a lawyer’s help to deal with getting into the IRCC’s blacklist. Anything major like robbing a bank or if you attempted or murdered someone are strictly not admissible for immigration to Canada. If you have done something like over speeding or petty theft or small college fight or something like this, only these are the cases defendable for immigration. 

You can defend yourself with the help of agent or lawyer to get your application approved and overcome the conviction for PR to Canada there are several ways that the lawyer would help you with his experience and knowledge. The agent might have dealt with cases of such kind before. 

If you have or might have any serious medical condition

There are several policies in Canadian immigration that deny access to anyone with a contiguous disease which may cause a serious public health issue or which demands excessive health and social services cost meaning that the government has to spend on the medical expenses, increasing the   government’s  health budget. The Canadian government increased it’s excessive demand on health and social services budget in 2019. The government increased the threshold, so many of the condition may not cause big problem for you, yet, some applications can be rejected due to this issue.

Not necessarily your health condition can restrict you from applying for immigration, but you just have to be aware and cautious of you conditions that it should not any serious health issue to others, the agent or consultant or lawyer is not the health expert or doctor so he can just advise you on how to apply or what to do and just help you get your application approved.

Conclusion: You may or may not necessarily need an agent. You have to decide yourself. There is No such regulation or requirement that you must have a lawyer or agent or consultant, if you apply for immigration yourself, you would be treated  equally and fairly as to someone who had an agent.
